Requirements for membership, forms and dues payment
Anyone wishing to become a member must hike the 33 designated peaks on the tally list, and, in a departure from the requirements of most other such clubs, climb Slide, Blackhead, Balsam and Panther mountains again in winter.
Because of the closure of Doubletop and Graham to the public, our tally list has changed from the original list of 35 to the current 33. More information on that can be found here. Winter climbs remain the same.
The Club also awards a separate patch for those who climb all the peaks during winter. To become a winter member, hikers must climb the 33 designated mountains.
The Club's by-laws define “winter” as the period from December 21 to March 21, inclusive, regardless of the actual occurrences of the winter solstice and vernal equinox in particular years.
Climbers should make every effort to locate and sign the canister notebook on the summit of each of the 14 peaks marked on the tally sheet with an asterisk (*). Signing in provides a record of your accomplishment, can aid in Search and Rescue situations and provides use information for DEC to advocate for funds for the Catskill Forest Preserve.

For a one-time fee of $200, the Club offers life memberships. Your membership helps fund stewardship initiatives of the Club such as our trailhead steward program, the search and rescue team, trail maintenance and other programs. In return for your generous donation you will not need to worry about yearly membership renewals and receive a life member patch as a thank you.
Those who have not yet finished the prescribed 37 climbs (33 regular, 4 winter) are referred to as aspirants. Aspirants can subscribe to the quarterly newsletter of the organization, The Catskill Canister, for a $10 per annum ($7.00 for each additional aspirant in same household). The Canister includes the Club’s outings schedule which subscribed aspirants may take part in.
