Hiking Resources

Here are the basics: camping and fires are prohibited over 3500' (except in an emergency or in winter). Camping is prohibited within 150' of any road, trail, spring or other body of water unless a "camp here" marker is posted. If a privy is present, use it, otherwise dig a hole and bury human waste at least 150' from water or campsites. Please, leave no trace and obey posted signs. These rules are here to protect you, the forest and others. More detailed official DEC regulations can be found below.
